[News/Commentary] Barney Frank Bails on the Transgender Community
Dear Congressman Frank:
I am your constituent. I vote for you. I have voted for you since I moved to Newton in 1985. That's a lot of elections. I cannot believe you are supporting a gutted version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), removing transgender from the language of the Act.
[Blog Commentary] There's no substitute for the original ENDA
If you've been reading the Blend over the last couple of days, you know that Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) will introduce two versions of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act -- the original one that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, and the watered-down, trans-free version that may have a chance of passage (even though everyone knows Bush will veto it).
[Press Release] Tell Your Member of Congress: Don't Eviscerate ENDA
There is a crucial vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) scheduled for tomorrow morning in the House Committee on Education and Labor. There's a strong possibility that the bill the committee will vote to mark up will NOT be the same bill we've supported this year.
[Press Release] More Than 90 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Organizations Tell Congress: Don't Leave Transgender People Behind!
More than 90 national and state lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations have signed a letter hand-delivered this morning to Congress that urges lawmakers to reject substitute legislation that removes transgender protections from the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and instead get back to work to pass H.R. 2015, an ENDA bill that provides job protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
[Blog/Commentary] Moving Forward on an Inclusive ENDA
As the drama around the Employment Non-Discrimination Act continues to unfold, there are two hard facts that we must face head on.
[Blog/Commentary] Don't Forget Gender Identity and Gender Expression Protect Us All
It has been disturbing this week to hear about the dismantling of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) by its sponsor, Rep. Barney Frank.
[Blog/Commentary] Politico or Activist, You Choose
After a night (of not too restful) sleep on the actions of the House Democrats stripping of transgender people from ENDA, I'd like to make a few observations.
[Blog Commentary] A Drag On ENDA?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and openly gay Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) have declared transgender people a drag on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).

The Employment Non-Discrimnation Act is being torn apart by our own Gay leadership! Barney Frank is attempting to divide our community by removing gender identity from ENDA.
[Blog/Commentary] The ENDA Debacle
Hundreds of calls to the show on Friday, and, among those who got through, people were largely dispirited, many downright angry, about the decision by the House Democratic leadership, supported by Barney Frank, to remove transgendered people from the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
Vote On ENDA Delayed As LGBT Pressure Mounts
A vote to mark up a revised version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act that had been expected on Tuesday has been put off as pressure by LGBT groups mounts on Democrats to reinstate the measure's original language.
Revised ENDA Also Reduces Protections For Gays Legal Group Says
A preliminary assessment of the revised version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act shows the bill to be riddled with loopholes in addition to dropping protections for transgender people, Lambda Legal said Monday.

GLBT news outlets and equality organizations reported late last week and over the weekend on a startling new development regarding ENDA, the long-sought Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
[Blog/News] Trans discrimination sparks fight
One of the first waves of protest over the move in Congress to remove transgender people from an anti-discrimination bill <http://www.sfbg.com/blogs/politics/2007/09/pelosi_sells_out_the_trans_com.html> came from the labor movement. Members of Pride at Work <http://www.prideatwork.org/>, an LGBT-focused labor coalition and the newest member of the AFL-CIO, held a press conference Sept 28 to announce they are withdrawing their support from the ENDA bill <http://www.queerty.com/politics/trans-rights-dumped-from-enda-20070927/>, and encouraging other LGBT advocacy groups to do the same.
[Blog/News/Commentary] Pelosi sells out the trans community
Why are Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank throwing the transgender community under a train <http://www.queerty. com/politics/ trans-rights- dumped-from- enda-20070927/>? Frank says it's because America isn't ready <http://www.queerty. com/news/ happy-endings- barney-frank- speaks-up- 20070928/> to have an employment-rights bill include trannies: "there is more resistance to protection for people who are transgender than for people who are gay, lesbian and bisexual."
