2 Trans Were Severely Attacked in Antalya!
Yesterday, two transwomen - Eda and Sudenaz - were severely beaten by almost ten people in the center of Antalya [a city of Turkey in the south] at around 16.30 p.m. The perpetrators firstly forwarded their transphobic insults against Eda and Sudenaz and then tried to lynch them.
Upon a call for the police by one of the eyewitnesses, the police came to the scene however they did nothing, just watched the attack for minutes.
After the reaction of some other people, the police intervened in the scene.
Pembe Hayat is sending her rapporteur for transphobic rights violations to Antalya on monday, to meet the victims and to report the case; and also is providing direct legal assistance for the victims.

Senate committee passes bill strengthening employment, housing, nondiscrimination laws
The California state Senate Judiciary Committee has passed the Gender Nondiscrimination Act (AB 887) in a 3-2 vote. The bill is authored by Assemblymember Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) and is sponsored by Equality California and the Transgender Law Center. If passed, AB 887 will strengthen employment, housing and other civil rights protections for all Californians, especially those who face discrimination based on gender identity and expression.

A transgender woman charged with murder in Hennepin County is currently being held in solitary confinement in the county jail, local LGBT rights activists say. The activists are attacking the county for using a measure criticized by many national transgender rights organizations as a flawed attempt to keep the accused safe while she awaits trial.
