No entry for transgenders...
The Delhi Gymkhana Club considers its premises far too ‘cultured’ for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community. Ashwin aka Maria Mehra, 38, a transgender (biologically a man but psychologically a woman), has been facing constant humiliation by the elite club’s board to give up dressing like a woman. “I’m treated like an outcast. I’m frowned at, pushed around and insulted,” says Mehra, a foreign educated, green-card holding linguist who speaks 11 foreign languages.

Intersex Australians Must Join Sex Offender Registry To Get Medication
Cyproterone Acetate, better known as Androcur, is an anti-androgen medication taken by both male and female intersex individuals. A change in Australian health care policy, though, means that intersex people--those born with both male and female biological traits--can only get Androcur by signing themselves onto a potential sex offenders' list. The same is true for female-indentified transsexuals, who take the drug to suppress male hormones.

5 questions with Brianne Langille
Transgender issues are the focus of Pride Calgary 2011, and with Lucas Silveira, the first openly trans lead singer of a major-label band, taking the stage and Mayor Naheed Nenshi leading the parade, it seems there's lots to celebrate. Brianne Langille, a local trans woman who helped organize Calgary's first ever Dyke March last year, spoke with Kenzie Love. She's happy to join the party, but notes that the news isn't all good. Trans people still aren't legally protected from discrimination in Canada, and widespread confusion remains over what exactly transsexuality is. This year's festival offers a chance both to celebrate how far the trans community has come and, Langille hopes, focus attention on how far it still has to go.

In closing arguments in the trial of accused killer Brandon McInerney, Ventura County, Calif., senior deputy district attorney Maeve Fox today worked to discredit McInerney’s “gay panic” defense and referred to it as character assassination against 15-year-old Larry King, whom she called the victim of a cold-blooded execution.
