Lorsqu'elle évoque son enfance et son adolescence, Camille Barré parle toujours au féminin. "J'étais souvent silencieuse, raconte-t-elle. Un peu explosive, aussi." Pourtant, à l'époque, Camille Barré s'appelait Gilles et était l'un des deux garçons d'une famille de cinq enfants.

Pride Day: transgendered take focus
Last year, Frances Ennis gave up years of struggling with his identity and announced he would become what he always felt like - a woman.
The sexagenarian, husband, and father of two grown children now wears make-up, shoulder-length blonde hair and women's clothes. Although Ennis had the full support of his family and workplace, many transgendered Winnipeggers still have a difficult time coming out.

Transsexuals and Multiple Personalities
I was originally diagnosed as suffering from gender dysphoria, and the treatment suggested by Dr. Paul Walker was sex change surgery. The transsexual surgery was approved and performed by Dr. Stanly Biber. But trouble persisted with my identity and persona. The trouble was agonizing and mind boggling for several years--working and living in different genders; recovering from alcoholism.

So Who Feels Pride?
It's June. Pride Month is in full swing with parades across the country and indeed the globe, and festivals and parties of all stripe heralding the one time of year when it's hip to be gay. It's a celebration of self, a celebration of the gains made, and a remembrance of where the catalyst symbolically began, Stonewall. NewYork City.

Pride Parade
Overcast skies and the occasional drizzle did not stop Boston from showing its Pride. An estimated 100,000 people turned out for the Pride parade and festival June 9. This year's parade made history with Gov. Deval Patrick becoming the first Bay State governor to march in the parade.
