Transgender community face hate speech from Lesbian and Gay people
Transphobia is not something that just happens because of heteronormativity. As we gradually make our way through the end of the first decade of the 21st century this much becomes clear; homonormativity is just as virulent as its sibling. A scenario between two South African activists -one a transsexual man and the other, a lesbian- during which the lesbian activist said, “once born a woman you will die a woman” and admits to saying so is typical of transphobic slur. The difference here is she admitted to casting the aspersion. Usually you are met with a barrage of denials which is symptomatic of bully cultures. The problem we face now is whether we like it or not, this is happing in our communities.

Rejected Peruvian Transsexual Robs Man in Moscow Cafe
Moscow police have detained a Peruvian transsexual for attacking and robbing a Muscovite who refused his advances, Moskovsky Komsomolets reported Monday.
The 27-year-old male victim, whose name was withheld, was approached by the transsexual in the restroom of an Internet cafe in southwestern Moscow, police officer Valentina Tolcheva told the newspaper.
The Muscovite insulted the Peruvian after realizing by his face and hands that he was male, not female. But the Peruvian retaliated, beating up the Muscovite and making off with his bag, which contained a cell phone and 4,000 rubles ($130), Tolcheva said, without providing a date for the incident.

Transgender journalist Bobbie Dittmeier: The write stuff
Bobbie Dittmeier was a sports reporter in upstate New York for 15 years, and a very good one at that.
She was Bob at the time, and she worked in the Albany market, with stints at two different papers, where she covered professional hockey and horse racing. Dittmeier wrote at length about the American Hockey League, often covering 100-plus games during a season, and even topped out one year at 125 games. She wrote about the National Hockey League for national publications, not just regional ones.

Glee changes Rocky Horror lyrics: Is "transsexual" a bad word?
he soundtrack for the Rocky Horror Show episode of Glee is out, and they changed a few of the lyrics to clean them up for prime time. Fortunately for them, they didn't attempt the dirtiest songs in the play and most of the sexuality comes from the scripted scenes, not the songs themselves, although they did do a clean version of "Toucha Toucha Touch Me" and made odd changes to "Sweet Transvestite."
