COMUNICADO

O GRIT - Grupo de Reflexão e Intervenção sobre Transexualidade vem, no seguimento do comunicado da sua desassociação da Associação ILGA Portugal, anunciar que, doravante, adopta o nome de Associação pela Identidade – Intervenção Transexual e Intersexo, prevendo oficializar-se como associação de solidariedade social com brevidade.

Desta forma, o Grupo de Reflexão e Intervenção sobre Transexualidade mantém-se, com tal denominação, como uma unidade da Associação ILGA Portugal, com a responsabilidade de cuidar dos temas relacionadas com os direitos das pessoas transexuais, dentro desta associação. É, assim, confirmado o objectivo do GRIT em tornar a ILGA Portugal numa associação LGBT cada vez mais inclusiva à sigla T, através da produção de material formativo e informativo, assim como da implementação de iniciativas socioculturais.

A Associação pela Identidade, por sua vez, assume-se como uma unidade autónoma e complementar ao movimento LGBT, com o objectivo de reflectir e intervir em exclusivo nas temáticas da transexualidade, e também da intersexualidade, que assumimos de forma a explorar as afinidades e diferenças entre estas duas condições.

Este é um projecto que descende directamente do GRIT – Grupo de Reflexão e Intervenção sobre Transexualidade, a partir do qual se forma, mas também, indirectamente e em parte, da extinta ªt. – Associação para o Estudo e Defesa do Direito à Identidade de Género, que já procurou trabalhar num activismo voltado em exclusividade para as questões de género. Ou mesmo de todos os que lutaram, à sua maneira, pela melhoria de vida das populações transexuais e intersexo.

Com a reaprovação da Lei de Identidade de Género na Assembleia da República, sem alterações atentatórias aos Direitos Humanos, e com garantia de promulgação pelo Presidente da República, reafirmamos o sentimento de conquista: trata-se do reconhecimento da nossa identidade e cidadania! E acrescentamos o significado da data que se aproxima e assinala os cinco anos sobre o assassinato da mulher transexual Gisberta Salce Júnior, a mesma que nos relembra o quanto há ainda por fazer.

Este momento faz-nos sentir confiantes e positivos na concentração de energias e esforços que nos garantam conquistar cada vez mais e melhores condições de vida, tornando-se claro que este é o momento para que as populações transexuais e intersexo surjam e se estabeleçam num activismo muito próprio, ímpar e seu. Reavivamos o convite para que mais pessoas se juntem a nós!

Ohio executes one-time neo-Nazi who killed 3
Ohio on Thursday executed a one-time neo-Nazi who shot to death two men and a teen more than a quarter century ago on the campus of Cleveland State University in a shooting spree that targeted blacks.
Frank Spisak, who chose to read Bible verses in German for a final statement, was pronounced dead at 10:34 a.m. following an injection of sodium thiopental at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.
Spisak, 59, set the Ohio record for the longest time on death row before execution, at more than 27 years.
He was also the last Ohio inmate to die by sodium thiopental, the scarce drug the state is giving up in favor of a more readily available substitute.
Spisak blamed the 1982 shootings on his hatred of gays, blacks and Jews and on his mental illness related to confusion about his sexual identity.
Spisak identified himself as a woman and referred to himself in correspondence as Frances Spisak, a name his attorneys also used.
