Breaking: Supreme Court Will Review Prop8 & DOMA Cases
Transgender Law Center celebrates the decision by the Supreme Court of the United States today to accept review of two cases that have challenged the constitutionality of laws barring access to marriage for same-sex couples. The cases include Perry v. Brown, in which the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that California’s Proposition 8, which prohibited same-sex couples from marrying in that state, is unconstitutional, and Windsor v. United States, in which the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. DOMA bars the federal government from recognizing the marriages of same-sex couples.

Accepting the Face You See in the Mirror: One Trans Man's Story
Being comfortable in your own skin, is what most of us strive for at some point, in my opinion. For each person, being confident and secure with who they are on the inside as well as externally, is somewhat of an eternal struggle. For many people, what they see when they look in the mirror is a huge deciding factor on how they feel about themselves. Having said that, imagine if every time you looked in a mirror, what you saw reflected back at you did not represent who you feel you are on the inside?

Baltimore Observes Transgender Day of Remembrance
The 14th annual International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR) was observed with solemn and insightful evening services held at the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore on Tuesday, November 20. The annual service was held in recognition and remembrance of the members of the worldwide transgender community killed in recent years with many of the victims losing their lives in horrific and violent manners. The Transgender community holds these services in cities throughout the world on this date each year to bring attention to recurring discrimination that still persists against trans people. In Baltimore the event is organized by the Transgender Response Team and other members of the Baltimore and Maryland LGBT community.
