State Minister for Cooperation Ko. Si. Mani gave away Rs. 5 lakh to a transgender group, Kurinji Malar, for starting economic activity.
A release from the Coimbatore District Central Cooperative Bank said the Minister asked the group to judiciously use the amount and promised to increase the loan to Rs. 10 lakh if the repayment was ahead of schedule.

On Tuesday, Mayor Samuel Cooper said the city would not readdress a Memorial Day weekend incident where several topless transgender people, identified as female, initially refused requests by lifeguards to cover themselves.
